I got a ranger who wanted capped Oath shot and help in the mission for Abandonned Mouth. He got his skill and leaves after the cinematics when we fought the Titan.

We finnished ToPK, guess who got the Bulwark. Jerk. Life just isn´t fair.
That reminds me my ran run in the tombs: the team was a jerk pool. And of course Mo/jerk got 2 ectos

We use to go to the tombs late at night with guildies, to relax after FoW or UW. We know the place, and make it all the time, so generally we're relax and don't take this seriously. This time there was me and the guild leader, and 6 unknown guys.

1st level, we start talking between guildies while barraging.
R/Jerk: Do you chat or play?
Me: Both.
R/Jerk: No, you chat or you play, but not both.
Mo/Jerk: Yes she's right, chat or play.
Me: Can't you see I'm attacking?
Guildie: Bah, let's use the Guild channel.
Me: XD

<convo keeps going on guild channel - nobody else talks>
<after a while, some other nice players in the team relax and start joking with us - jerks pissed>
<a bit later>

*R/Jerk has earned a skill point!*
R/Jerk: woot I've almost 100 unspent skill points!
Guildie: Yeah?
Me: You should spend them then and try to unlock all your skills.
R/Jerk: I've already unlocked all the skills.
Me (guild channel): Why don't I believe her/him? Maybe because after having spent enough time to get what? 5M XP? she still cant afford a 15k armor?
Guildie: XD

<I skip the episode:
*R/Jerk picks the rare raven staff (or whatever)*
R/Jerk: Oh! Nice staff! I wonder how much I can sell it for... 200k maybe.>

We finally slay the darknesses , Mo/Jerk gets one more ecto and we go back to the tombs.

R/Jerk: One more?
*Kick*

-----------------------------------------------------------------

An old one in the Dragon's lair. I dunno why I was bored and decided to help random guys with this mission. I didn't need it, nor the caps there. I join a team. There were a W and a R of the same guild. First level, I call:

*I'm using Oath Shot on something*
(I was trying a oath shot/stance/trap build)
R/Jerk: ROFL! Any good ranger knows that we don't use oath shot!
R/Jerk: Oath Shot sukz!
Me: Any good ranger - no: any good player knows that there are many builds and that the choice of the elite depends on the build.
*R/Jerk stunned: he wasn't expecting such an answer*
W/Jerk (from the same guild): Sir Mad, You realy suksaz a ranger!
Me: *ignore*

The guy kept insulting me, telling me how noobish I was, etc., so after a while, I got angry as well, and told him to f*** off. More insults.

We finally kill all the facets, and face the big thingy for the bonus.
Me: Guys, wait before...
W/Jerk picks an egg.
Me: ...attacking.

Too late to tell them about her stance, and the bad idea of attacking her then, nor the necessity for the other ranger to interupt her (we had decided he would carry an interupt), nor the good idea of letting me drop some traps before the fight...

The monk was good, but this time that wasn't enough to keep W/Jerk alive. He died and started insulting me again, telling me the same s*** than before. uet, eh, I don't talk to dead guys! Of course, as no one knew what to do in the team, that was a wreck. Finally, the 2 last players alive were me and the monk, who died soon after. The nasty drag had a 2/3 full health bar, and it was between me and her now. After 5 freakin minuts spent laying traps around, hasseling her with poison, and avoiding her attacks, I succeeded in making her HP drop to 1/3. If it was a novel, I would have kept fighting heroically, and killed her on my own, but unfortunatly it's not, and I died. I spent 5 mins alone with her when W/Jerk died after 30 sec, despite the monk healing him.

Me: So, who is the noob, now?
*Leave*

The jerk in this story is a jerk not only because of how he acted, but because of how he played. It often happens, even to the best of groups, that too many enemy are aggroed simultaneously. Good players realize when this happens, and understand that to stay and fight is hopeless. Taking a stance and continuing to fight when the situation is hopeless is just absolute poor playing, especially in FOW, UW or ToPK where party death means having to start all over again.

I play often with a good group of friends, and I am usually the last one alive, thankfully equipped with rebirth, when things go wrong. And that is because I am one of the quickest to realize "this is definitely not going to work", and then I run away. And not a one of my friends complaines like the jerk in the quoted post, that if I stayed we could have beaten them. Instead, they all thank me for being able to get away, let the enemy back off, and then rebirthing the entire group.

Its amazing how many GW players do not realize this. "Retreat" is a very valid and important tactic.

I agree, but there are times when one must sacrifice themselves so that others CAN run away. I've seen a few instances (the beginnings of the courtyard & tombs level in ToPK) where the Monk would be clear of the aggro, but another player with baddies on his tail would head towards the Monk and get them both killed instead of leading them away from the Monk and giving the party another chance.

This guy was indeed one of those jerks that most likely believes only in very few standard builds.

I have found a build that works extremely well in FOW using Oath Shot, Throw Dirt, the three non-elite ranger traps, distracting shot, rebirth and troll unguent. If I play wisely, I can not only cast traps before a battle, but also during a battle by sneaking around and using throw dirt to blind the enemy. Oath Shot is the key skill here. It allows me to use Throw Dirt very often, compared to its usual 45 second recharge time. Oath shot also helps let me use distracting shot a bit more often when needed.

Practiced Stance is another elite that probably is laughed at by most GW players. But combined with Choking Gas it allows a ranger to be a very effective interrupter to all spellcasters, including fast casting monks and mesmers.

Oh yeah, I remember that well. I was there on safe distance, trying to heal as much as I could. I was low on energy (5 energy with 3 regeneration), but I did the best I could. I was not worried, because I had a whole empty space behind me. I could always escape, right? The Idea was that my party members tried to kill as much as possible, so nothing was lost if I had to resurrect them again.
Suddenly, a Wammo comes running to me, with about 5 agros behind him, he died at my feet. Suffice to say I was dead in 2 secs flat (Monks don't wear armour. They wear clothes). Don't bring agros to your healer, you Jerk!

Yes, definitely, I agree! In my reply I was referring to the simplest situation where the entire party takes a stance, gets overwhelmed, and refuses to back off (as if they were backed up against invisible walls) until everyone dies.

But a good team will take into account where the other survivors happen to be. We often split when retreating, in order not to lure the enemy into all of the retreating party. Occasionally we need to do the sacrifice thing, where one member needs to lure the enemy away from the others, but usually that isn't needed.

I think that when you play too often with people that are jerks it starts to rub off. I have been playing for over 6 months, and can count the number of times I have been a leaver on one hand. Today I found myself coming up with a very wicked plot though. To teach someone a lesson about teamwork.

I was doing the Iron Mines mission with some friends. I needed bonus, and they needed the whole thing. We had to get a few extra people though, so there were a couple rangers and a warrior that we didn't know. We all agreed in the beginning before even moving that we would not be running any part of the mission. Not to infusion either. Everything was going just fine until shortly before the cave with the seer. We were outside about to aggro the Azure Shadows when one of the rangers got impatient. They charged in to the seer, drawing every single shadow along with them. Then someone didn't skip the cutscene, knowing we were getting our butts kicked! I have no problem with people wanting to watch the cutscene, but we were under assult! So, the cutscene ends and the aggro person is dead, and everyone is at 1/2 life or less. Two more people died in the fight, but we were able to come out of it.

The other monk sent me a message saying that his life was now in my hands. I really didn't want it, and I told her so. A team normally does need everyone to be successful. So we went on for a little bit when I hatched the plan. I was going to let him die at Markis so he couldn't cap Barrage. It keeps him alive as long as we need him, and hopefully tells him not to be an idiot. She loved the idea, and we made sure the party leader knew about it too.

On the way to the bonus, it was like pulling teeth to keep him from charging in for Markis before we were ready. We managed it though. It was smooth sailing for the most part to get the bonus too. It normally is from the back way. The other monk and I asked everyone to clear the area before talking to the captive. Someone didn't listen though, one of the rangers, not sure which. We still did it pretty easily when everyone realized what happened though.

We had such a good team that he didn't die though. After finishing the mission, in town he makes this pitiful atempt at an apology, and I kicked him right out. Here I hatch this evil plan, and it completely fails. I guess it is a good thing, I wouldn't want to give up being mostly nice. Just caught me on a bad day I guess, lol. So, I was not that successful at being a jerk in my jerk story.

Ive one the party leaivng thing, but i dont think it makes me a jerk, since it was Nolani, or the one before that, with the flamekeepers you have to follow for bonus.

me and the other guy both W/Rs, we had a dropper before we released the first prisoners, and then our monk dropped just before the movie after the last prisoners becuase we cdnt rez, ok always take the signet, i usually monk secondary forgot i wasnt monk and went in without rez.

Anyway we get to the flame keepers. And ive done that bonus alot, on my first character it took forever to do bcos we kept landing bad team mates that wudnt listen or didnt know waht to do. So now for this mission i always sound like an arrogant summit or other and explain in great detail what needs to be done. I knew it wud be tough 2 x W/R, but wed give it a try.

Me: "Ok, remember, we follow this group, do not attack them"
Other Guy "OK"
OG runs off towards group
Me: *crap maybe eh ddint understand* "noo come back, dont agro! do not agro"
The group reach him, he had plenty of time to run back after i told him, but he didnt.

So i took great pleasure in his screams for help as they killed his pet then him, at one point he led them towards me, but since i believe cowardice is the better part of valour, i always keep a running skill and got away.

He spent a few mins after his death flaming me with typical insults of my noobish behaviour, and how we'd fail the bonus. While i calmly explained that he was probably newr to the game than I, and he ahd done the exact opposite of what i said.

I then left the group in search of another PuG to do it. Imo that mission takes too long to do at such low levels for me to waste time with him beyond that.

The worst guy i can remember was just yesterday, playing again under my W/R I managed to, at level 12 run under bad spawns from piken to gredniths, to yaks. pleased with myself I decided to pop back to ascalon and offer some free runs up to people. No takers, thought it was a bad day for them, so moved to Piken. No takers. Moved to Grendith's, didnt expect to see anyone, I was more looking as ive never spent time there before, checking out the skill trainer and this guy goes.

Jerk Monk "LF Pro Runner to Yak's will pay 3k"

me thinking that this is grendith's its not worth anything like 3K, and that as opposed to being a repeating player he was a new guy who knew roughly where he needed to go, but no idea how fare or where, he was a Mo/Me 3

Me: "I take you for free, doing test runs"

*invite*

JM: "WTF U only level 12 you n00b"

I go to say sumthing, but he leaves, so i move it to whipser and he was ignoring me.

Ok so i know that W/R 12 isnt the ebst time to do runs, but still, ive not failed that run yet, and i keep getintg higher levels so :S

Also today (gawd sorry for long post) was in Drok's with my W/R again, asking for a runner to Copper or Grotto, since i have the money to spare, I wanted to get grotto armour without wasting money on Drok's stuff.

straight off i'm inundated with the various "oh you can't run to grotto" "you must be infuzored" PMs, obviously to save my embarsment for asking for a newb run that didnt exsists.

I explained to each one that it was quite possible since my un-infused LA armour wearing N/Mo 20 had ran Grotto from Copper (not easily of course but still).

Anyway, most of them go "oh right, didnt know that" or likewise and leave i at that.

But one just kept going on and on at me about not really wanting a run, just wanting to brag about the one I had made and that i was a newb and to be a runner i should be a wammo, etc etc you can imagine the stuff.

I preceded to show her that i was wearing collectors armour from Ascelon and that i was level 14 and was most certinaly not just there for the bragging rights.

and the barrage continued. I cried on the inside

Ah...

My best stories come from my Mesmer who I ascended at level thirteen... which only jumped him up to eighteen.

Sure there were lots of rude people in the desert that implied a level 10-12 mesmer could not be of any value. I said if I got here I must not be all that bad, heh? They ofcourse accused me of paying for a ride... which I actually had not done.

But that was not the worse.

I had never done UW before so I decided to go check it out with my newly ascended Mesmer. I went to ToA and started advertising for a group. I immediately got yelled at by a W/Mo tank - we will call him Mr. Uber Tank (no that was not his name).
  • Mr. Uber Tank: You fn' noob you need to be ascended to go to UW.
  • Me: I know, I am.
  • Mr. Uber Tank: No, if you were ascended you would be level 20.
  • Me: No, you face your mirror self and get 50,000 exp; it has nothing to do with being level 20.
  • Mr. Uber Tank: Buddy you get instantly raised to 20 stop being such an fn' noob.
  • Me: Want to bet? How about all your gold vs. all of mine that I get in UW?
  • Mr. Uber Tank: Sure I will take your money, not that you have that much
  • I promptly show him my 200K in a trade window
  • Mr. Uber Tank: Easy money noob.
  • Me: Invite me.
  • He invites me and I accept.
  • He explains to the group our bet and proceeds to take us in to UW
  • Me: Well we are in UW and here I am!
  • Me: Pay up!
  • Mr. Uber Warrior drops
  • with only seven people we actually manage to do the quests necessary to get the ranger his spider

I am still looking for Mr. Uber Tank so that he can pay up.

It was hillarious... I have never seen him again... I wonder if he was so embarrased that he deleted his W/Mo.

Maybe he decided he would try solo farming with a Mesmer.

Default I'm the biggest JERK

When I see someone make fun of someone else or I see someone call somebody noob. I sit back a bit to determine who the jerk is. I figure out who started it or whom the real bad guy is in the situation then I jump in and I don't stop until they leave. Then I add them to my friends list and I wait for them to log on another day and I go right after them again and remind them of who I am and why I am being the BIGGEST jerk in GW to them. I stay on them again until they logoff or put me on ignore. Then I will logon with another account and go right after them again.

I am not mean by nature but I can't stand bullies. When you push back they run off crying. I know I am risking getting myself banned with this type of behavior but someone needs to teach the real jerks a lesson.

Had a guy earlier today.

HIM "Pro runner to War Camp, 500g only"

me *ahh seems like a good one, never been there, let's see....*

a long run later, protracted by rather horrible cases of naffness on behalf of that whammo and we arrive. It should note that when we finally died close enough to the portal for the camp, he was about second or third furthest from the end. So when we zone into there.

HIM "rar rar Pay Up, 500g"

Whole party "errr nuuuuuu"

and so on for a bit, the jerk threatened to report all of us for not paying up, and cept going on about how we had conned him. we all just wanted to slap him.

Sad thing is he could have got this skill in Ice Floe outside of THK or Grotto
I was helping some friends in Ice Caves one night and was waiting for my last friend to come join us. I was the group leader and I get 2 invites from 2 wammos, I normally like to wait to see if anyone else I know wants to come along so I leave the spots open to friends. Well I was going to invite them both in then both PM me with "Let me in the grp you stupid GOREDENGINE(female dog)" . Yeah that is a good way to get into a group so I picked up stefan and little thom
